What is the Veterans Opportunity Tax Credit - Workology

What is the Veterans Opportunity Tax Credit - Workology What is the Veterans Opportunity Tax Credit or (VOTC)? Military veterans have some of the highest unemployment rates. In March 2016, the BSL reported the unemployment rate for male veterans declines to 4.5% and for female veterans remained steady at 5.4%.  The transition for them from military to the civilian workforce isnt easy. Its a life long process and adjustment which is why the government created the Veterans Opportunity Tax Credit program. What is the Veterans Opportunity Tax Credit or (VOTC)? I believe that tax credit programs are a great way to reward employers who hire military. A larger percentage of organizations are often unaware about  a 2011 tax benefit program that encourages them to hire prior service members and military called VOTC. After an organization has hired a military veteran, companies complete forms 8850 and 9061 as part of the WOTC or Work Opportunity Tax Credit program to receive tax benefits for veteran hiring. The VOTC  tax credit provides a monetary reward of up to $9,600 per hire for our veteran and military recruiting and hiring efforts that directly impacts our company’s bottom line. Returning Heroes Tax Credit VOTC is part of the larger WOTC tax program and is a tax credit is common for companies to receive when they hire job seekers who have received government assistance. In 2012, Obama signed into law the VOTC. ITs also often referred to as the Returning Heroes Tax Credit and is designed to for companies to receive a tax credit of up to $5,600 per veteran. The Wounded Warriors Tax Credit is another piece of this program. Companies who hire disabled veterans can receive a maximum credit of $9,600 per veteran. These are all pieces of the American Jobs Act, which was signed into law November 21, 2011. In 2013, the American Tax Payer Relief Act of 2012 was signed into law further extending programs like the Veterans Opportunity Tax Credit as part of WOTC until December 31, 2013. The VOTC has continued to be extended as hiring military and veteran candidates has continued to be a challenge even with the great economy. For Veterans under the VOTC program, the maximum amount of the tax credit as I mentioned before is up to $9,600 but depends on a number of different factors that are displayed in the charge below. (data courtesy of the Department of Labor) Receives SNAP (food stamps) benefits $2,400 Entitled to compensation for service-connected disability Hired one year from leaving service $4,800 Unemployed at least 6 months $9,600 Unemployed At least 4 weeks VOTC Highlights There is No Time Limit. There is no time limit associated to when a veteran leaves their service under VOTC. And recently, qualified tax-exempt organizations can also receive the tax credit incentives. There is No VOTC Credit Maximum.  Whether you hire 1 veteran or 25,000, the tax credit program has no boundaries. Here are direct links to the two forms used as part of the tax credit program â€" Form 9061 and Form 8850v. Credit is Open to All Veterans. The program and its tax credit apply to all veterans regardless of the year or time in service. If you are hiring any veterans who have been unemployed for four weeks or more, your company can receive the tax credit. The tax credit applies to every and all veteran regardless of if their time in service was 1965 or 2013. The WOTC and VOTC program(s) are important ones especially in an economy where there is a talent shortage. Employers want to lower their hiring expenses. A program like the Veterans Opportunity Tax Credit would allow for this especially if organizations focused their efforts on high unemployed populations like veterans, those with a disability and candidates with criminal convictions.

Writing A Custom Resume For High School Students

Writing A Custom Resume For High School StudentsIf you are planning to write a custom resume, you will be surprised how often teenagers actually use the same standard. Most people think that college-aged teenagers specialize in the most unusual items in their resumes, such as football highlights or a mom who went to Harvard Law. There are just two things that seem to come up with high school students as frequently used topics in resumes. You should know what these are so you can use them as writing tips.Because of the way our society has changed, custom resume writing for high school students includes a big mention of sports, especially football. A resume should not just list your career, but also include any relevant past jobs that you had during high school. Sports is an excellent way to share information about what you did as a kid in sports. Include athletics and other extracurricular activities you played in high school that you were a part of.The final statement on your resume should include your high school achievements. This should include time in the debate club, a club that is a must for any high school student. As a part of your resume, list all the awards that you received in this area.Unlike what most people think, online writing for high school students does not include the usage of long introductions and titles. You can list yourself first in your introduction, followed by the date of your graduation, then listing any past colleges and schools that you attended. It is usually suggested that you use a minimum of one sentence to tell everyone why you want to get into a certain college. When writing for high school students, do not place your address in the middle of your resume. While it is standard for every new graduate to list their address at the top of their paper, it is usually suggested that you leave the address out. Thisis because some employers will assume that the person has to be at least 19 years old to be able to provide such informati on.Since college is where most custom resume writing for high school students take place, you will want to make sure that your resume is as complete as possible. You should make sure that you have any credits for past college courses. Since you have written the admissions essay, you will need to take this information into account when it comes time to fill out the rest of your paper. You will need to tell the admissions officer why you need to fill out the rest of the application form. One of the biggest places to include on your resume is the college you attended in high school. College life has not always been easy, but the life after school is something that many teenagers face. Write about how you feel that you have benefited from the experience, whether it is through something in school or through your career.Writing a custom resume for high school students is going to take some effort. Most of these are common sense information, but in order to keep the information to a minimum , you will want to find out as much as you can about every subject. Using these basic resume writing tips will make your job easier, so that you will be able to get the important information that you need to provide in your resume.

Last updated on May 15,2020 4K Views Vaishnavi M R Bookmark 3 / 5 Blog from Software Testing Types Testing is a buzzword in the software industry. AccordingtoFrost Sullivan, the software testing market is expected to grow at 14% CAGR in the next few years with the rise of agile testing and DevOps.The entire software completely depends on this phase of the process. The system needs to be tested on regular intervals to ensure that it executes the process defect free. So, in this Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing article, lets compare the two major types of software testing based on certain parameters.Below are the topics that I will be discussing in this Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing article:What is software testing? Why do weneed it?Types of software testingF unctional vs Non-functional testing on Different ParametersConclusionBefore comparing Functional testing Non-functional testing, let us know the process of software testingFunctional testing vs Non-Functional testing:What is Software testing?Technology in recent days has enhanced so much that most of our day to day activities are done using machines and these machines need to be tested on regular intervals so that the cost of this work is reduced.Software Testing is a process of evaluating the functionality of a software application to find if there are any bugs in the software or not. It checks whether the developed software meets the specified requirements and detects any defect in the software in order to produce a quality product. Testing is, evaluating asystem in order to identify any gaps, errors, or missing requirements contrary to the actual requirements.Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing:Why do we need Software testing? If the software used by any organization wor ks fine without any drawback, it profits the user as well as the organization for providing valuable applications. So, all the applications developed by the organizations should be tested regularly to verify if it is running as per the user requirements.Testing of software is an intellectual task for the testers to perform.Increases the quality of the product developed.Requires lower maintenance cost and therefore results in more accurate, consistent and reliable results.Helps in providingan effective performance for the software application or product. It ensures that theapplication should not result in failure.Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing:Types of Software testingSoftware testing is a pool of knowledge and endorsement and it is a widely used process all around the world. You might wonder what are the different types that exist.Testing is an integral part of any successful software project. The types of software testing depend on various factors which even includes t he project requirements, budget, timeline, expertise, and suitability. The differentTypes of software testing play the key role where the tester determines the right testing for appropriate applications.Software testing is broadly divided into two major types: Functional testing and Non-functionaltesting which are further divided into various types. Lets understand each one of them in detail.Types of Software Testing | EdurekaThis video covers the various types of functional and non-functional testing.Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing:Functional TestingFunctional testing is a type of software testing where the system is tested against the functional requirements or specifications like the technical details, data manipulation and processing, and other specific functionalities. You might think, functional testing just refers to testing a function (method) of your module or any class but thats not what it does. It tests a slice of the functionality of the whole system. It is a lso a type of black-box testing that holds the test cases according to the specifications provided by the software component under test.Black box testing is a method of software testing which helps in examining the functionality of any application without peering into its internal structures or the implementation process. It means that the user will not know the internal process that takes place while testing a case. This type of testing checks whether the application works as per the user need/requirement or not.Functions (features) are tested by feeding the input and examining the output of the system.Functional testing is more effective when the test conditions are created by the user as per business requirements. This type of testing helps in identifying functions that the software is expected to perform, create the input data based on the systems functional specifications, determine the output based on the requirements, execute thetest cases and compare the actual and expected ou tputs.Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing:Types of Functional TestingLets take a look at different types of functional testing. They are namely:Unit testingIntegration testingSystem testingInterface testingRegression testingUser-acceptance testingNow, lets see each one of them in detailUnit testing: A unit is the smallest testable part of any software. It usually has one or a few inputs and a single output. It is a level of software testing where individual units/components of the software are tested. The main purpose is to validate each unit of the software, performs as designed.Integration testing:It is a level of software testing where individual units are combined and tested as a group. The main purpose of this type of testing is to expose faults in the interaction between integrated units.System testing:It is a level of software testingwhere the complete and integrated software is tested. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the systems compliance with the specified requirements. It is a series of different tests whose sole purpose is to exercise the system.Interface testing: It is a level of software testing whichverifies whether the communication between two different software is done correctly.Regression testing:Regressiontesting verifies that a code change in the software does not have an impact on the existing functionality of the product.User-acceptance testing: Itis a level of software testing where a system is tested for acceptability. The sole purpose of this test is to evaluate the systems compliance with its business requirements and assess whether it is acceptable for delivery. It checks whether the software can handle the required tasks in real-world scenarios. Now, lets see what is Non-functionaltesting and see what exactly it does to test a software.Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing:Non-functional TestingNon-functional testing is another type of software testingwhich is used to check the non-functional aspects like perf ormance, usability, reliability, etc. of a software application which are not tested using functional testing.Non-functional testing helps in testing the readiness of a system. It defines the way a system operates, rather than specific behaviors of that system. This is totally in contrast to functional testing, which tests against functional requirements that describe the functions of a system.Basically, non-functional testing is done to check and evaluate all the non-functional parameters which are not covered under functional testing.Non-functional Testing is equally important as Functional testing. All the non-functional parameters such as speed, scalability, security, reliability, and efficiency of an application are tested under the non-functional testing. It makes an application robust and prepares it against certain vulnerabilities.Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing:Types of Non-Functional TestingLet us see what are the different types of Non-functional testing. They a re namely:Documentation testingInstallation testingPerformance testingReliability testingSecurity testingLets learn about each one of them in detailDocumentation testing: Ithelps to estimate the required testing efforts and track the requirements. Software documentation includes a test plan, test cases, and requirements section. It tests the documented artifacts.Installation testing: Itis a type of quality assurance work in the software industry that converges on what customers will need to do to install and set up the new software successfully. It checks if the software application is successfully installed and is working as expected. The testing process may involve full, partial or upgrades install/uninstall processes.Performance testing:Itis defined as a type of softwaretesting that is used to ensure that the software applications will perform well under their expected workload. Performance testing is considered as a heart ofNon-functional testing. It is further divided into a fe w types.Types of Performance testing:Load Testingis a type of performance testing conducted to evaluate the behavior of a system at an increasing workload.Stress Testingis a type of performance testing conducted to evaluate the behavior of a system at or beyond the limits of its anticipated workload.Endurance Testingis a type of performance testing conducted to evaluate the behavior of a system when a significant workload is given continuously.Spike Testingis a type of performance testing conducted to evaluate the behavior of a system when the load is suddenly and substantially increased.Check out this video on performance testing where our software testing expert is explaining how performance testing is important.Performance Testing Tutorial for Beginners | Performance Testing Using JMeter | EdurekaThis video on Performance Testing Tutorial gives a complete insight on performance testing, its types, and how to do performance testing with the help of JMeter. So, this is about perform ance testing. Now, lets take a look at the other types of non-functional testing.Reliability testing: Itassures that the product is fault free and is reliable for its intended purpose. It is about exercising an application so that the failures are discovered before the system is deployed.Security testing: Itis a variant of software testing which ensures that the system and applications of the organization are free from loopholes. Security testing is about finding all possible weaknesses of the system which might result in a loss of information. This is all about the different types of Non-functional testing. Now let us move forward and compare functional non-functional testing on various parameters.Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing:Parameters to compare Functional and Non-functional testingTo point out the differences between the major types of software testing, we will compare them based on a few parameters like theirObjectiveArea of focusEase of useFunctionalityExecutio nLets take a clear look at these parameters and understand how these types of software testing differ based on themObjective: Functional testing is mainly carried out to verify and validate the software actions such as the login function whereas Non-functional testing helps in verifying and validating the performance of the software.Area of focus: Functional testing concentrates on the user requirements like what the system should do under a given situation, and it defines the process that takes place whereas Non-functional testing concentrates on the user expectations like how the system is built, how does it interact with the user and so on.Ease of use: Functional testing is easy to execute, the black box testing where the internal implementation is not known to the user whereas Non-functional testing is easy to execute white box testing where the internal structure/implementation process is known to the user and there is transparency in the operations taking place.Functionality: Functional testing helps in describing what the system should do whereas Non-functional testing helps in describing how the system should work. It means functional testing provides answers to all what functions in the system whereas Non-functional testing provides answers to all how questions in the system.Execution: Functional testing takes place before the execution of Non-functional testing. This is because of Functional testing defines all the process and this is executed first whereas Non-functional testing execution takes place only after the execution of Functional testing because only if the system is defined, you can proceed further and customize it accordingly. So, these are the parameters on which Functional testing and Non-functional testing differ from each other.Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing:ConclusionFunctional testing vs Non-Functional testingParametersFunctional testingNon-Functional testingObjectiveTo verify and validate the software actions that defi ne the processTo verify and validate the performance of the systemKey focus areaConcentrates on the user requirementsConcentrates on the user expectationsEase of useEasy to execute black-box test casesEasy to execute white-box test casesFunctionalityDescribes what the system should doDescribes how the system should workExecutionIt is executed before Non-functional testingIt is executed after Functional testing is executedFunctional Testing vs Non-Functional Testing | Software Testing Training | EdurekaThis video will give you an idea about both the types of testing. We will compare them on various parameters and know their types.Functional testing and Non-Functional testing are the two most important types that play a major role in testing a software. By including functional testing into the equation of testing an application, one can test what the process is up to and what does the system do under any given circumstances. If Non-Functional testing is prioritized, it deals with the performance of the system and describes how the system performs under any given circumstances. Both have their own pros and are limited to some constraints. It is completed dependant on the user as how he wants to test the system. Now with this, we come to an end to this Functional testing vs Non-Functional testing blog.
